Things
had not been going well for me over the last five years. I could
generally be found either watching movies, or playing video
games. My career was in a slump and I had no motivation. After
years of playing sports my knees were no longer what they use

soon after things got even worse when I started to randomly

guessed it, it was the end of the year, and good old - Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and New Years came around. And although I ended up
gorging myself, gaining at least 10 extra pounds, I probably
wouldn't have been too bad off. But my problem was that come
January I still was in this terrible pattern of over eating
almost every day.
Then
one day I was thinking about the future, thinking about opportunities
I probably missed, thinking about the fun I use to have playing
the sports I loved, thinking about all that excess fat I was
lugging around on my frame, and I got to looking in a mirror
and I couldn't believe what I saw. I guess I never noticed before...
as things sometimes changes so gradually.
As
I looked closer, I thought to myself "wow, I really don't
look the same as I use to, I look terrible!!!". It seemed
like I looked at least 10 years too old, and at least 25 lbs
overweight!
And
as I looked in the mirror it dawned on me how all the weight
I had gained had taken it's toll on my appearance and my health.
My skin looked pasty and flabby. My chin seemed to have invited
his brother to stay underneith in the basement. My eye sockets
seemed to droop downward. My nose looked bigger, and so did
my cheeks and my head for that matter. My chest had gone from
firm to flab. I thought my belly was fine, it was all my belts
that had all gone on strike and decided they weren't going to
fit on me anymore. My jeans weren't on strike but I'd have to
wrestle with them, and even then I'd often lose when I couldn't
get button to sinch.
All
joking aside... I might have been able to put up with all that
extra weight for a while, but one day my heart started to revolt
on me. I'd get chest pains, and when I went to check my blood
pressure, it wasn't what it use to be. And that's when I new
I either had to change, or my heart might just decide to go
on strike one day too!
I
knew that in the next five years,
if I didn't do something that I'd be in big trouble.....But
what?
I
had heard of all the fad diets that seemed to come and go, diet
pills that could ruine your heart plus all the side effects,
weight loss programs that seemed rediculous..."no can't
eat the bun, or I've reached my calori count for the day"....I'm
just not one to do that stuff.
I
was hopeful there was an easier and better way to lose weight,
so here's what I did...
I
thought that out of all the diet and excersice programs on the
market, there had to be one that would work for me. So I spent
months researching hundreds of diets. Infact over 200 of the
leading diets. And wow did I ever learn a lot. Some of them
had really great ideas which I took with me. Others seems more
like ways to just get people spending money for life - on stuff
like taking pills, magic powders, or joining some club where
everyone sits around weighing each other... give me a break...
I might be a little overweight but I'm not stupid!!!
The
bottom line is that although I got some okay ideas, all my research
didn't really help. See I wanted to come up with a way to lose
weight long term and keep it off. Not join some fad of the month
yo-yo diet only to find myself back where I started in six months
or a year.
Even
the best ideas I gained from all my research weren't very encouraging,
simply because in all honesty I wasn't very motivated to make
any changes to my lifestyle. At best I reasoned that I would
be able to commit to about 5 minutes a day on something...just
what?
I
kept wondering, "how do you actually lose weight without
making a lot of changes to your life?". Because I knew
that with all the responsibilities of work, home life, friends,
and activities, not to mention my laziness, I'd realistically
only have about 5 minutes per day to spare, so every second
had to count. I was puzzled, perplexed and thinking that really
there might not be an easy way for me to solve my problem...
